The Moles Help Spruce Up the Hogsmill!
A few weeks ago, we were joined by the Lower Moles Countryside Trust – a local group of professionals and volunteers who specialise in countryside management. ‘The Moles’ helped us clear overgrown scrub along the Hogsmill and taught us all about coppicing and tree management, along with lots of other handy tips.
The river walk now has a new lease of life and should stay dryer and more accessible in the winter months. Huge thanks to everyone from the community group who came along to help out (particularly in some pretty inclement weather) and a special thank you to Peter for arranging it all.
Gardening Good Gym
After chatting to local residents we helped to organise the running group Good Gym to come along one evening and help us start the clearance of some very large, spiky weeds outside Downfield House. The group brought 14 runners and with that many hands we made a good start in clearing the space! Work will continue in 2019 and the area will hopefully be turned into a garden. Watch this space…
New Seats on the Block!
The benches are in! If you haven’t noticed these new additions to the roundabout check them out outside the CO-OP and opposite Capital Cafe by the bus stop!
November Community Get Together
In November, a few of us met up at the Children’s Centre to discuss activities and tasks that had been going on in Malden Manor! We had updates on work being done in the Hogsmill, plans for the Hub and discussed the much anticipated Christmas Event!
A Fond Farewell and a Hearty Hello!
Lucy is taking a sabbatical to finish her masters and have a well-deserved break. Annie and Hannah have joined the team while she’s away. We’ve really enjoyed meeting and working with some of you already and we can’t wait to get stuck into more Malden Manor activities in 2019!
To find our more about how to get involved in 2019, why not join us at our next Community Get Together on January 10th, 5-7pm at Richard Challoner School!
